The maker
Founded by ceramicist Colin Braye, the studio began with a simple belief: that everyday objects should be both beautiful and purposeful.

Before discovering ceramics, Colin worked as an electro-mechanical engineer. Drawn to pottery through a desire for thoughtfully designed functional ceramics, he quickly became captivated by the balance of technical precision and creative freedom that the craft offered.

Today, Colin works alongside a skilled team of artisans in Woodstock (Thulani, Phelisa, Donald, Muhammed, Yolandi and Bart (the studio dog) ) where every piece is carefully crafted by hand, meticulously finished and individually inspected.

Working with a wide range of clays and glazes, the studio combines traditional ceramic techniques with contemporary design. The result is a collection that feels sculptural yet practical; pieces made to be used every day, not kept for special occasions.

What we love most about Vorster & Braye is their commitment to timeless design. Rather than following trends, they create objects that feel calm, considered and enduring. The kind of pieces that become part of family meals, slow mornings and homes filled with life.

Care guide
Wash by hand with warm water and mild soap. Not dishwasher safe. Avoid prolonged soaking — the raw clay body is porous and may absorb water over time. Each piece is food safe. Handle with care; ceramics are durable but will chip if dropped.
